Music: The Earliest-Known Recording of U2 Has Been Unearthed

The Earliest-Known Recording of U2 Has Been Unearthed

The earliest-known live recording ofU2has been unearthed. The show took place on August 11th, 1979, at a place called the Dandelion Market in Dublin. Up to that point, U2 had never released any music or played outside Ireland.

But it was right around the time they recorded their debut EP,"Three".

The show was recorded by the opening band's guitarist, and he says, quote, "I am pleased that I recorded the show, and hadn't realized the significance of it and its place in history until quite recently."

It's not clear if the show will ever be released, but it's pretty low quality. You can hear clips of two of the songs: "In Your Hand"and"Concentration Cramp".

Dave Grohl Reunites With Doctor Who Helped Broken Leg

Dave Grohl has once again reunited with the Swedish doctor who patched up his broken leg at that infamous 2015 gig in Gothenburg. Foo Fighters headlined Stockholm’s Lollapalooza festival over the weekend, where they dedicated their song “My Hero” to Dr. Johan Sampson.

Not only that, Grohl brought the doc on stage to sing the song with him after spotting him in the crowd.

It’s not the first time the band has paid tribute to Dr. Sampson – back in 2017, Grohl pranked the crowd with a fake fall and then reunited with the doc backstage.

That’s not the only special guest the band welcomed during their Lollapalooza set. A few songs later, Perry Farrell and his Kind Heaven Orchestra helped out the Foos for a cover of Jane’s Addiction’s 1990 hit “Been Caught Stealing.”

Shinedown’s Latest Music Videos Inspired By Beyonce, “Pulp Fiction”

Shinedown’s latest album “Attention Attention” hasn’t only churned out chart-topping singles, but a unique music video for every track, too. In a new interview, frontman Brent Smith says they’re planning on putting together a short film with the album’s videos.

The band is taking a cue from Beyonce and The Lumineers with the decision to do an “album film.” “A lot of this started with Beyonce, with [her album] ‘Lemonade,’” he notes. “A lot of artists are making their albums complete pieces where there’s a visual for every song – it’s part of the different way people consume music now and it’s exciting.”

Shinedown was also inspired by Quentin Tarantino’s classic movie “Pulp Fiction” creating the unique music videos. “They all tell different stories that kind of link up with each other,” Smith explains. “There’s a lot of characters you haven’t met yet. For the rest of the year we’re going to be compiling the scenes for all the other songs.”

·Shinedown’s latest video offering is an animated visual for “Monsters.” Check it out to the right.
