Rays Even Series With Twins

The Tampa Bay Rays (3-5) defeated the Minnesota Twins (3-5) 7-1 on Saturday night to even the three game series at a game apiece in a frigid game in Minneapolis.

Steven Matz (2-0, 4.09) pitched six innings of one-run ball in which he allowed two hits while striking out eight and walking two. Yandy Diaz and Jonathan Aranda drove in two runs apiece to lead the offense, while Cedric Mullens and Chandler Simpson each had two hits.

The Rays will look to win the rubber game against the Twins when they meet in the final game of this road trip on Sunday afternoon. Nick Martinez (0-0, 3.00) is scheduled to start of the Rays and face Simeon Woods Richardson (0-1, 3.60) for the Twins.
