Eleven people, including two children, were injured in a boat explosion at the Lauderdale Yacht Club in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on Memorial Day. The incident occurred sometime before 6 p.m. on Monday (May 26), as reported by Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue. The cause of the explosion remains unknown, and officials are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
According to Frank Guzman of Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue, the explosion threw people into the water, prompting immediate rescue efforts by nearby Good Samaritans. Witness Christopher Blackwood described the scene, telling WJXT, "I heard a loud explosion. When I looked at the boat, I saw what looked like gas vapor in the air. People jumped in the water, and everyone was yelling for them to get off the boat."
All 11 injured individuals were transported to Broward Health Medical Center, but their current conditions have not been disclosed. The investigation into the cause of the explosion is ongoing, and officials have not yet determined what triggered the incident.
