The Tampa Bay Rays (24-26) defeated the Toronto Blue Jays (25-25) 3-1 on Friday night at Tropicana Field. It was the third straight win for the Rays, after winning the last two games against the Astros.
Drew Rasmussen (3-4, 2.60) earned the win by pitching six shutout innings in which he allowed just four hits while striking out three and walking two. Pete Fairbanks pitched a scoreless ninth inning to earn his ninth save.
The Rays offense came from the long ball - in the third inning Brandon Lowe hit a two-run homer, before Curtis Mead added a solo shot in the fourth. It was the second consecutive game both of those guys hit homers after doing so in the finale against the Astros on Wednesday afternoon.
The Rays will now look to win the series against the Blue Jays on Saturday. First pitch Saturday night is scheduled for 7:05 PM - Chris Adams-Wall begins pregame coverage at 6:30 PM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620, your Home of Rays Baseball.
