Pope Francis will be discharged from the hospital on Sunday (March 23) after being treated for double pneumonia for over a month. Dr. Sergio Alfieri, who led the medical team, announced that the Pope is in stable condition and will continue partial drug therapy, along with a two-month period of rest and convalescence.

The 88-year-old pontiff has been hospitalized since February 14, marking his longest stay at Gemelli Hospital since becoming Pope 12 years ago. Despite his absence from public view, the Vatican released a short audio message and a photo of him praying in the hospital chapel. The Pope is expected to make his first public appearance on Sunday at the hospital's balcony, offering a blessing and greeting to well-wishers after the Angelus prayer.

The Vatican recently stated that the Pope's condition is improving and his pneumonia is under control. During his hospital stay, Pope Francis approved a new three-year reform process for the Catholic Church, signaling his intention to continue in his role. The reforms aim to increase the roles of women, including ordaining them as deacons and involving non-clergy members in governance and decision-making.
