Sung, who began her career as a freshman at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), has already amassed a long list of achievements, including a Pan American Games gold and multiple national championships.

In 2017, Sung won the Italian Junior & Cadet Open and had a standout performance at the ITTF Pan American Junior Championships, winning a mixed doubles bronze and team gold. The following year, she defended her team gold and won the women's doubles at the ITTF Pan American Junior Championships.

Sung made her senior debut in 2022 at the US National Table Tennis Championships Hsing Family, where she won bronze in the women's singles and later won the women's doubles event at the 2022 U.S. Open Table Tennis Championships. In 2023, she clinched gold at the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago, Chile, alongside her UCLA roommate, Amy Wang.

At the 2024 US Olympic Team Trials for table tennis, Sung secured her place on the American team for Paris after finishing second in the women's singles event. She will be joined by her doubles partner, Amy Wang, and compatriot Lily Zhang.
