A warning from Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody and Sarasota-area law enforcement officials about Xylazine, an animal tranquilizer often mixed with fentanyl.
"As deadly and as terrifying as illicit fentanyl is proving to be, it's lethality is being enhanced by a drug that is being brought and sold in most U.S states legally--xylazine," said Moody.
Moody says Sarasota County now has the third largest increase in xylazine-related deaths in the state.
And she also says the drug can produce a disturbing side effect--necrotic wounds that produce scaly, dead tissue. So, seeking a high, she says, users are literally risking life and limb.
