Emergency Repairs Slow Down I-4 Between Orlando and Tampa

Update: FHP says the left and center lanes on westbound I-4 have reopened.

LAKE ALFRED -- Transportation crews are making emergency repairs on I-4 in Polk County after holes opened up in the road.

The Florida Department of Transportation says workers discovered holes in the westbound center lane of I-4 near Exit 48 in the Lake Alfred area.

Emergency repairs are being made during daylight hours and delays are expected heading from Orlando to Tampa.

F-DOT crews are rebuilding the interchange, replacing the 1960s-era cloverleaf with diamonds and roundabouts, and adding a new wildlife crossing.
