TAMPA -- Veterans looking for employment in the Tampa Bay area have a destination Thursday. The Tampa Convention Center is hosting a job fair for veterans.
Allen Von Plinsky is directing the event, sponsored by Recruit Military and the D-A-V. He says they have around 25,000 jobs listed for the state of Florida, and more than nine thousand close to Tampa.
Von Plinsky, a U.S. Army veteran who worked as a manager in a Target distribution center after leaving the service, says companies are looking to hire veterans for their soft skills ... including punctuality, ambition, focus and lack of drug use... as well as the background many of them have in logistics, warehousing and transportation.
The Recruit Military website lists nearly 50 companies as presenters.
The job fair is from 11 a.m to 3 p.m. and parking is free for veterans.
