Clearwater Police Say Man Was Plotting to Kidnap Child

CLEARWATER -- Police here say they were able to stop a man from committing a potentially horrendous crime on a child.

They say 26-year-old Jacob Holman had a shopping list that included duct tape, gloves, a shovel, a flashlight, a first aid kit and a condom.

Also on the list "snatch up lil girl" and "throw in trunk."

Police discovered this as they investigated a domestic dispute at Holman's home. They say he captured video of a girl who appeared to be

about five years old, at a local store.

"He had a list, and he was already starting to compile it... I believe this threat was imminent," Clearwater police Major Natalia Illich-Hailey said.

Holman's in custody. In addition to the attempted kidnapping charge, he's also accused of possessing child pornography, based on what detectives say they found on his computer.

"So often in this profession we see the tragic outcome after a heinous crime is committed," Police Chief Dan Slaughter said. "This is one of those rare

occasions where we were fortunate to be able to intervene before the crime happened."
