Huge loggerhead to be released on Clearwater Beach Today!

John Curry, Rehabilitation and Medical Care Manager at Clear Water Marine Aquarium, joined AM Tampa Bay to discuss a Huge loggerhead that will be released on Clearwater Beach Today!

Clearwater Marine Aquarium will release the largest sea turtle it has rehabilitated in 10 years this morning at 2:00 PM on Clearwater Beach. The female loggerhead, named Luna, washed ashore on St. Pete Beach on April 26 and was lethargic with barnacles and algae on her shell. Now ready to go home, Luna eats around 6 lbs of food a day! It is currently nesting season for loggerhead sea turtles on our shores and it lasts through October 31st. The team at CMA continues to monitor 21 miles of beach to ensure nesting sea turtles and their hatchlings have a successful year.
