Pinellas County Commissioners have passed an ordinance to restrict boats, jet skis, kayaks and canoes from being used in and around Outback Key on the North Beach of Fort De Soto as shifting sand formations are creating a lagoon between the main beach and the key.
Pinellas County Parks Director Paul Cozzie showed this video to the commissioners on Tuesday showing seaplanes and ultralight planes are also creating a dangerous problem for beachgoers.
While the board voted to create the new vessel restriction zone, Cozzie says he will have to work with the county attorney to write a new ordinance to deal with plane traffic in the area.
