Waffle House Closes Some Florida Locations Due to the Coronavirus Outbreak

Waffle House announced on its Facebook page that 365 locations would temporarily close due to the coronavirus outbreak. That will still leave over 1,600 restaurants open across the U.S. Earlier this month, Waffle House said it would try to keep all locations open by offering carryout options.

The breakfast chain said the decision was made to keep employees and customers safe. In the post, Waffle House states, "We want to acknowledge the great efforts of our associates who work hard every shift to create a safe, warm, and welcoming dining experience 24 hours daily. We are working hard to support them as we do our best to manage through this crisis."

Waffle House is known for staying open during hurricanes, leading to the Waffle House Index, a term used to classify the severity of a storm.
