Dr. Jason Fields, an addiction medicine specialist and volunteer with the Hillsborough County Anti-Drug Alliance, joined AM Tampa Bay to discuss the Hillsborough County Needle Exchange Program.
Hillsborough County commissioners approved the Syringe Service Program which allows for the exchange of used needles and hypodermic syringes for unused ones;give kits containing Narcan, an emergency opioid antagonist to treat overdoses, to participants and offer onsite counseling and resources to prevent or treat drug abuse.
