Both Walt Disney World and the Boston Red Sox have taken precautions with individuals who traveled to places that have been impacted by the coronavirus. The groups say they are exercising extreme discretion when it comes to the disease.
Disney World has decided to keep a small number of cast members who recently traveled to Italy at home. While none of the employees are showing symptoms, the decision was made "out of an abundance of caution."
Italy has experienced the largest outbreak of the virus in Europe. There are currently more than 300 confirmed cases.
A spokesperson for Disney wanted to reiterate that there are currently no confirmed or suspected cases of coronavirus from the theme park. If there are, they will be reported to the Orange County Health Department.
Overseas, Shanghai Disney Resort and Hong Kong Disneyland are both closed.
The Boston Red Sox have asked one of their players to stay quarantined in his Fort Myers hotel room due to coronavirus concerns.
Chih-Jung Liu, a prospect from Taiwan, was asked to remain in his hotel room instead of reporting to the team's spring training complex. The Red Sox play at JetBlue Park at Fenway South in Fort Myers until the end of March.
Like Disney, a spokesperson from the Red Sox said the team is using "an overabundance of caution" because of coronavirus concerns.
