Tampa Police Department Officer Roy Paz joined AM Tampa Bay to discuss the Responsibility Matters Campaign.
For 10 years the Tampa Police Department has partnered with Ye Mystic Krewe of Gasparilla and Pepin Distributing to host the Responsibility Matters program.
Its purpose was to educate individuals in the community, particularly our young Gasparilla-goers about the importance of celebrating responsibly.
The messaging centers on critical information such as:
·Responsible Behaviors
·Drinking must be on the parade route itself
·Must be purchased at approved vendors
·Can ‘t bring your own alcohol
·No underage drinking
·No Trespassing
The overall numbers of arrests at Gasparilla have dropped significantly from north of 400 in 2010 to just 11 in 2019.
