Samantha Spoto, Florida Department of Health in Hillsborough County, joined AM Tampa Bay to discuss Flu and Hepatitis A prevention.
Influenza season is in full swing here are some tips to prevent getting the flu or passing it along to others:
- Influenza season – what’s going on this season
- Getting the annual flu vaccine
- Handwashing
- Covering your mouth/nose when sneezing and coughing
- Staying home if you are ill - can return to work/school once they are fever free for 24 hours without anti-fever medication (which is usually 5-7 days)
Spoto also discusses how to prevent getting Hepatitis A and that there is a vaccination you can get from your doctor.
