ALZHEIMER’S ASSOCIATION TO HOST WALK TO END ALZHEIMER’S VOLUNTEER KICK OFF PARTY IN TAMPA
TAMPA, Fla., Jan 8, 2020 – The Alzheimer’s Association is inviting Tampa residents to learn more about becoming a volunteer for the 2020 Walk to End Alzheimer’s in their local community by hosting a Volunteer Kick Off Party. The event will take place Wednesday, January 15atThe Brick House Tavern + Tap in Tampa.
Those interested in becoming more involved in this year’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s in Tampa are encouraged to attend the kick off party to learn about the many volunteer opportunities on the Walk’s Planning Committee. Appetizers will be provided while Kristine Lee, Alzheimer’s Association Director of Walk for the Florida Gulf Coast, explains the ways Tampa residents can volunteer with Walk to End Alzheimer’s, as well as other volunteer opportunities with advocacy and programs.
"Our Tampa Walk to End Alzheimer's event would not be possible without our family of volunteers,” said Lee. “We have volunteer opportunities for every skill set, time availability and interest! Strength in numbers is going to find the First Survivor!"
Former Tampa Bay Buccaneer player, Michael Clayton, is chairing the 2020 Walk to End Alzheimer’s in Tampa. He urges others in the community to be a part of something bigger than themselves, as well. "Here's your opportunity to get involved in a great charity that will end this terrible disease,” said Clayton.
More than 5 million Americans are living with Alzheimer's disease – the sixth-leading cause of death in the United States. Additionally, more than 16 million family members and friends provide care to people with Alzheimer’s and other dementias. In Florida alone, there are more than 560,000 people living with the disease.
The Walk to End Alzheimer’s Volunteer Kick Off Party will take place on Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at the Brick House Tavern + Tap, located at 1102 N Dale Mabry Hwy in Tampa. The event will begin at 5:30 p.m. and will conclude at 7:00 p.m.
