Pinellas Park Native Serves with the U.S. Navy’s “Silent Service”

SANTA RITA, Guam – A 2013 Dixie M. Hollins High School graduate and Pinellas Park, Florida, native is serving with the U.S. Navy aboard one of the world’s most advanced nuclear-powered submarines, USS Key West.

Petty Officer 3rd Class Brian McVey is an electronics technician (navigation) aboard the Guam-based submarine, one of four Los Angeles-class submarines forward-deployed on the island.

A Navy electronics technician (navigation) is responsible for maintaining a small shipboard nuclear reactor.
