TINKER AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. – A 2007 Countryside High School graduate and Safety Harbor, Florida, native in the U.S. Navy supports the nation’s nuclear deterrence mission.
Petty Officer 1st Class Christopher Doorn is a Navy aviation structural mechanic serving with Fleet Air Reconnaissance Squadron 4, a versatile command capable of operating E6-B Mercury aircraft under USSTRATCOM operational control providing a survivable and endurable airborne communications link to the nation’s strategic forces.
Doorn is responsible for handling flight controls and metal fabrication, hydraulic systems, brakes and tires to ensure the E-6B aircraft is operational at all times.
Doorn credits success in the Navy to many of the lessons learned growing up in Safety Harbor.
“I learned hard work from my family,” said Doorn. “My dad is a mechanic and taught me a lot about mechanics even before joining the Navy.”
