Hillsborough County to Honor the Fallen on May 26 Memorial Day weekend observance offers Sunday salute at Veterans Park Hillsborough County, Fla. – The community is invited to join in honoring U.S. military men and women from all eras and branches of service who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

Consumer & Veterans Services and the Veterans Council of Hillsborough County, Inc. will host the county’s 22nd annual Memorial Day weekend observance on Sunday, May 26 at 10 a.m. at Veterans Memorial Park and LeRoy Collins, Jr. Veterans Museum located at 3602 U.S. Highway 301 N. in Tampa.

Gold Star Families will offer local perspectives on the true meaning of Memorial Day, and special guests include members of the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners. The event’s keynote speaker will be Brigadier General Johnnie Johnson, Jr., Deputy Director of Operations at U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa. In addition to a color guard, rifle salute, wreath ceremony, and playing of taps, the event will feature patriotic music and refreshments.

Bleacher seating is available, and lawn chairs are also welcomed.

Veterans Memorial Park will debut its new auxiliary overflow parking area, but early arrival is still recommended for this popular annual remembrance. The park, monuments, and museum at Veterans Memorial Park are all free and open to the public.
