Beth Houghton, St. Pete Free Clinic CEO, joined AM Tampa Bay to discuss "Stamp Out" Hunger Food Drive that's happening Saturday, May 11.
How Can You Participate?
- To participate place a bag of nonperishable food items by your mailbox, and your postal carrier will collect the donated goods as he or she delivers the mail.
Items Needed To Be Donated:
- canned vegetables, canned meats and fish, peanut butter, pasta, rice, beans, cereal, breakfast foods, and baby food.
- Low-sugar items like low-sugar jams and low-sodium foods like low-sodium soups and beans are needed
Impact On The Community?
- The people who need assistance with food are working or have an income, but face challenges or unexpected bills that make it hard to afford food.
- Many of these families depend on free or reduced lunches during the school year, and we typically see an increased need when kids are out of school during the summer months.
