Rollover Crash in Plant City Kills Driver Not Wearing Seat Belt

Plant City, Fla. (Newsradio WFLA) - A rollover crash on I-4 killed the driver and seriously injured his passenger Saturday evening, the Florida Highway Patrol said. The 31-year-old driver from Tampa, whom the FHP did not identify by name in its crash report, lost control of his 2005 Chevy SUV after a tire blew out as he drove west on the Interstate just past Branch Forbes Rd.

The SUV went into the median and flipped over, with the driver and his adult passenger - Jennifer Rodriguez - thrown out because they did not have on their seat belts, the crash report said. Rodriguez, 35, suffered serious injuries. Her two children riding with them, a 13-year-old boy and one-year-old daughter, suffered only minor injuries.
