TAMPA (WFLA News) -- The images of the fire at Notre Dame (-DAHM) Cathedral in Paris are bringing reaction from Roman Catholics all over the world. Father Justin Paskert is the Director of Catholic Campus Ministry at the University of South Florida in Tampa.
"It's an iconic church... that has stood the test of time.. it's just heartbreaking to see what is happening," Fr. Paskert said.
Father Paskert says the cathedral houses sacred relics and artifacts as well as the work of great architects.
Father Paskert took part in a Mass at Notre Dame for its 850th anniversary. He says the cathedral's architecture and artifacts represent a great loss... but he's grateful that, as of Monday evening Paris time, there are no reports of injuries.
