WESLEY CHAPEL, Florida (WFLA News) -- Three women are in custody and facing felony charges after a police pursuit that began when they were seen sunbathing in the nude at a rest stop along Interstate 75 in Pasco County.
The Florida Highway Patrol says another woman spotted them outside the stop with clothes off. She alerted a custodian, who called 911. Trooper Danielle Poulin says the women told her they were "air drying" after a shower. They got in their car and drove off, before she told them they could leave, and headed back onto I-75. A retired cop spotted their Nissan Sentra driving erratically on State Road 52 near Dade City and called 911. More troopers tracked them down to a convenience store on 52, where FHP says the driver tried to ram one trooper and a passenger got out and charged him with a pink baseball bat.
Dade City police deployed stop sticks on the car at 52 and Saint Ann Road. FHP says a trooper broke out a car window and the three women inside refused to get out. That led to the use of a taser. FHP says the driver, Oasis McLeod, 18, and passengers Jeniyah McLeod, 19, both of Kingston, New York, and Cecilia Young, 18, are facing several charges, including fleeing to elude, resisting arrest, and aggravated assault.
