Hillsborough Deputies Arrest Two In Credit Card Skimmer Probe

Credit Cards

Gibsonton, Fla.-(Newsradio WFLA)-Hillsborough County deputies have arrested two men in a credit card skimmer investigation after tips from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the Polk County Sheriff's office.

Lawmen told local deputies about some unknown suspects traveling around the state using stolen and fraudulent credit cards obtained through pump-installed skimmers. Investigators say the bad guys were using the cards to purchase large quantities of diesel fuel.

Deputies then staked-out the Circle K station on Gibsonton Drive here. After a while, two men showed up in a red F-350 and a Isuzu box truck and used one of the phony credit cards to fill tanks and bladders in both vehicles with diesel fuel.

Deputies moved in and arrested 27 year-old Victor Mendoza Fonseca and 42 year-old Yasniel Rodriguez Hernandez. Fonseca was found to be in possession of 8 counterfeit or cloned credit cards. Hernandez was caught with 112 counterfeit or cloned credit cards.
