Harley Rider Without Helmet Killed in Ellenton Crash

Ellenton, Fla. (Newsradio WFLA) - A collision between a motorcycle and pickup truck Saturday afternoon killed the biker, the Florida Highway Patrol said. Adrian Rodriguez Chavez, 22, pulled his Ford F-150 out of The Oaks at Ellenton Apartments onto 36th Avenue East just before 5:30 p.m. and into the path of the Harley Davidson ridden by a 57-year-old man whom the FHP did not identify in its crash report. The impact sent the biker flying off his Harley. The FHP crash report said that Chavez "failed to yield" to the biker, and said that the crash remains under investigation. The biker did not have on a helmet, according to the crash report.
