Largo, Fla. (Newsradio WFLA) - A 17-year-old girl faces child abuse charges for a skull fracture detectives say she inflicted on her 5-week-old son. Qadayshia Ward lives with her mother and had care of her twin infants while Forshunder Ward went to work Wednesday, according to a news release from the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office. When Forshunder came home, she found one of the boys lethergic and with a misshapen head, the release said. She took the baby to Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital.
Doctors there told detectives that the fractured skull, brain hemorrhage and possible brain damage the boy suffered could not have come by accident, only by intentional abuse. Detectives say that Qadayshia later admitted to throwing the baby on the floor out of frustration.
