Man Found Dead After St. Pete Standoff

Saint Petersburg, Fla.-(Newsradio WFLA)-Pinellas County deputies have identified 43 year-old Joseph Robinson as the man found dead inside his home on 60th Avenue, North, after an overnight standoff. Investigators say it appears that Robinson died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Deputies were called to the home on a report of domestic battery. Robinson's girlfriend had called deputies to say Robinson had grabbed her by the hair, threw her on the bed and struck her a number of times. The woman told deputies that Robinson had a gun.

Deputies evacuated some people who were inside the house and then established verbal contact with Robinson. The man told deputies he was not coming out.

While deputies were trying to talk Robinson out, they heard the sound of a gunshot. Deputies found Robinson dead when they made entry after the gunfire.
