Thonotosassa, Fla. - News Radio WFLA - A convicted sex offender is now charged with murder in the death of a Thonotosassa woman on Sunday.

54-year-old Samuel Parsons asked a neighbor to call 911 early Sunday morning, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies found Parsons standing on the front porch of a home on Ellison Road when the arrived. Inside, they found a woman dead from what they describe as "upper body trauma."

While the Sheriff's Office has not identified the woman, Pastor Jerry Waldrop tells News Channel 8 that the victim is Parsons' mother and she recently moved in with him.

"He, he had issues he was trying to contend with... There was some bit of, of concern when she decided to move back in that residence...She was determined to do that. She loved her son," Waldrop says.

Parsons was sentenced to 30 years in prison in 1984 for a Sexual Battery charge from Lee County according to Florida Department of Corrections records. He was released in March of 1998 and was required to register as a sex offender.
