Davenport, Fla (Newsradio WFLA) - A dump truck carrying hot asphalt overturned on US 17-92 in Davenport early Sunday, closing the road in both directions, the Polk County Sheriff's Office said. It happened at Lem Carnes Road at around 3:45 a.m. The driver went to an area hospital with minor injuries. Deputies kept the road closed in both directions for several hours until workers could clean up the sticky mess. They urged people to use highway 547 & Earnie Caldwell Boulevard as alternates.
