Hundreds laid off at Tampa spine institute

Word came down Friday afternoon that more than 500 employees were laid off from the Laser Spine Institute in Tampa as well as facilities in Scottsdale, Cincinnati and St. Louis.

The company was known for its minimally-invasive spine procedures.

According to a statement from the company, financial issues forced the closures, including the Tampa complex on Avion Park Drive.

The company says it will try to work with other health providers to take its patients.
