Dade City, Fla.-(Newsradio WFLA)-A police sergeant broke into a burning home here after he spotted what appeared to be a woman inside. The officer put his life at risk to grab the woman from a bedroom and drag her outside. Unfortunately, the woman was already dead.
Pasco County Fire-Rescue, the Dade City Police Department and the State Fire Marshal's Office are all investigating. What they don't yet know is if the woman was dead before the fire or because of the blaze.
The Southview Circle home suffered heavy damage from the fire. The cause of the fire also remains under investigation.
