Gas Prices Set New 2019 High

AAA gasoline price

Tampa, Fla.-(Newsradio WFLA)-Florida gasoline prices are starting to hold steady after an 11 cent per gallon rise last week. The big jump in prices set a new 2019 high over the weekend of $2.34 a gallon.

AAA says gas prices averaged $2.27 per gallon in February. That price was an increase of 8 cents from the January monthly average. The good news is that February prices averaged 32 cents less than in February of last year.

AAA's Mark Jenkins says gas prices rose due to an increase in the cost of crude oil and the cost of seasonal maintenance at the oil refineries.

The most expensive gas prices in Florida are in the West Palm-Boca Raton area at $2.46. The least expensive gas prices in Florida are in Jacksonville at $2.29.
