Cops: Port Richey Man Threatens Neighbor, Neighbor Fatally Shoots Him

Port Richey, Fla. (Newsradio WFLA) - Deputies investigate the shooting death of a Port Richey man by his neighbor Saturday night, the Pasco County Sheriff's Office said. Joshua Ellis, 34, argued with a woman at his residence on County Lake Drive at about 11 p.m. when Brien Colby, 39, came outside his home next door to see what was going on. Ellis confronted Colby and said he would kill him, according to a news release from the PCSO.

Colby was on the phone with 911 at the time, and fired one shot into Ellis's chest with a 9mm handgun, the release said. Colby applied pressure to the wound to stop the bleeding, but Ellis was pronounced dead later at Bayonet Point Hospital. Detectives continue to investigate. They have made no arrests.

Ellis had two arrests last year in Pasco County for domestic violence and aggravated battery.
