Gas Prices Headed Up

AAA gasoline price

Tampa, Fla.-(Newsradio WFLA)-Get set to dig deep into the pocket to find some extra change to cover the rising cost of gasoline. Triple A says oil and wholesale gasoline prices have surged to their highest levels since November. The auto club says that is the reason to expect gas prices to rise by 10 to 20 cents in the near future.

The Florida-wide average for a gallon of regular is around $2.23. That price is still a bargain from a year ago when it was 34 cents higher. The highest average price so far this year was $2.30 per gallon.

The most expensive gas in the state is in the West Palm-Boca Raton area at $2.36. The least expensive gas can be found in Jacksonville at $2.17. You can find a gallon of gas here in the Tampa Bay area for around $2.20.
