Valentine's Day Not So Hot for Florida Restaurants

TAMPA (970 WFLA) -- Getting into a sit-down restaurant with your significant other on Valentine's Day may be easier than you think.

Small business software maker "Womply" crunched the numbers and found that February 14th is only the 71st-busiest day of the year for Florida restaurants that aren't part of national chains. Womply executive Brad Plothow says not all restaurants see a big boost. "White tablecloth" eateries seem to do better.

The day is better than 71st in terms of revenue, Plothow says, because of bigger tickets.

Valentine's Day is even less of a big deal in Miami, where it's just the 112th best day of the year by Sales. But Plothow says Florida restaurants are actually getting more Valentine's Day traffic than most other states.
