East Lake, Fla. (Newsradio WFLA) - A one-car crash early Sunday killed its passenger, the Florida Highway Patrol said. Kyle Stevens Birdyshaw, 25, of New Port Richey lost control of his 2002 Ford Focus on East Lake Road near Pasado Drive at about 4:45 a.m. and crashed into a utility pole and a tree, according to a crash report from the FHP. The passenger in the car, a 37-year-old man whose name the FHP had not released as of early Sunday afternoon, died later from injuries suffered in the crash. Charges are pending, the report said. Troopers did not know yet if alcohol or drug impairment played any role.
