Bust out the parrots and peg-legs.... the pirates are here!
Earlier today, a swarm of pirates from Ye Mystic Krewe of Gasparilla invaded downtown Tampa, storming the streets, firing the cannons and even taking Mayor Bob Buckhorn hostage.
The pirates brought Mayor Buckhorn from his cozy office at City Hall to Lykes Gaslight Park, lead by Captain Chapman. When the pirates asked for a key to the city, the Mayor responded firmly, "hell no!"
Now, we will carry on with one of Tampa's most beloved traditions- Gasparilla Pirate Fest. Many are familiar with this Saturday's parade, but did you know that events continue well into March? Here is a full calendar of events for the next few months of festivities.
