Search For Hit-and-Run Driver in Deadly Plant City Crash

Plant City, Fla. (NewsRadio WFLA) - Plant City Police are searching for the hit-and-run driver that left one man dead Thursday night near Charlie Taylor Road.

Around 7:30pm, police received a call about a man lying on the side of the road that appeared to be dead.  Officers went out to the scene and found the victim, already dead from his injuries. He has only been described as an Hispanic male in his mid 40's to mid 50's.

The vehicle involved may be a small, silver or light green SUV with damage to the front driver's side, based on evidence found at the scene and what some witnesses reportedly saw.  Detectives also say the front bumper may be partly torn off and hanging from the SUV.

The driver may have headed north on Charlie Taylor Road after the crash, however police say they do not have a description of the driver or any passengers that may have been involved.

The victim has also not been identified as the investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information on the crash should call the Plant City Police Department at (813) 757-9200.
