St. Petersburg, Fla.(NewsRadio WFLA)-A Florida Highway Patrol Trooper stopped a suicidal man from jumping off the Sunshine Skyway Bridge Sunday.
When Trooper Tabarie Sullivan responded to a call about a suspicious person standing on the wall of the northbound lanes, he saw the man had one leg dangling off the bridge.
Trooper Sullivan tells News Channel Eight as he approached the man, he immediately started talking about life and the children they each have. Trooper Sullivan said as soon as he noticed the mans leg was back off the barrier.... he jumped into action and pinned him down and waited.
FHP Captain Richard Benton was off duty and happened to be passing by and assisted Sullivan with getting the man off the wall.
No word on the condition or identity of the man whose life, Trooper Sullivan saved.
