Fiery Crash Shuts Down I-75 Near Gainesville

GAINESVILLE (970 WFLA) -- If you're expecting travelers from North Florida or Atlanta via I-75 tonight, they may arrive late. 

Law enforcement agencies are working a deadly crash on I-75 at Mile Marker 394 north of the city. 

Alachua County Fire Rescue says six people were killed and eight people hurt in the crash, which caught several vehicles on fire, including a semi. Eight people transported to hospitals. Paramedics are searching nearby woods for other potential victims.

FHP says I-75 is shut down in both directions, with traffic detoured at State Road 26 or U.S. 441.
