Hit-and-Run Kills Man in St. Petersburg

St. Petersburg, Fla. (970 WFLA) - Police look for the hit-and-run driver who left a pedestrian for dead Saturday night. St. Petersburg Police say that a red or maroon Jeep SUV struck and killed Jeffrey Wade Wilson, 47, as Wilson tried to cross 4th St. North at 23rd Ave. North at about 9:05 p.m., according to a news release.

As Wilson lay in the road, another car ran him over. Both vehicles pulled into the parking lot of Baycare Urgent Care on 4th St. North, "then the Jeep SUV driver sped away," the release said. The other driver stayed and cooperated. Wilson died at the scene. The Jeep SUV should have damage to its front end. Police ask anyone with information that could help them find it to call them at (727) 893-7780.
