Polk City, Fla.-(Newsradio 970 WFLA)-Polk County deputies say a man here shot and killed his wife and then turned the gun his way. The two bodies found inside their home on Highway 559 have been identified as 82 year-old Henry Stanecki and his 79 year-old wife, Nancy.
Detectives say Stanecki had called his brother in Cincinnati and told him that he'd "just shot Nancy." The brother tells deputies that Stanecki had recently told him that he was worried about Nancy's bad health and frequent falls. Stanecki told his brother he wasn't able to care for Nancy because of his own deteriorating health.
A family member tells deputies that Henry and Nancy Stanecki had been married for 28 years.
Deputies say the investigation into the deaths is continuing and autopsy results are pending.
