A Scare In Sarasota

Sarasota Police

Sarasota, Fla.-(Newsradio 970 WFLA)-Police officers were called to the Walgreens on the North Tamiami Trail here on a report of a suspicious device outside of the drug store. A caller thought what appeared to be a pressure cooker could have been a bomb.

Arriving officers first evacuated the store and then called in the Sarasota Police Explosive Materials Unit to investigate. Special equipment was used to examine the device and determined it was indeed a pressure cooker. Officers then found out that it was an empty pressure cooker and was not a threat to the public.

Police aren't sure who left the pressure cooker outside of the store, but continue to investigate.

After determining that the device was not a bomb, the evacuation was called off and Walgreens was allowed to reopen.
