Wesley Chapel, Fla.-(Newsradio 970 WFLA)-The Pasco County Health Department has issued a rabies alert for a portion of the county near here. The alert comes after an owned animal was exposed to a raccoon that tested positive for rabies in the Meadow Pointe area.
The boundaries for the alert are between State Road 56 to the north to Beardsley Drive to the south, the New River to the east to Bruce B. Downs Boulevard to the west. The alert is for 60 days.
Residents are advised to make sure their their pets have up to date vaccinations. You are also advised to keep your pets and children away from any wild animals.
