Tampa, Fla. (970 WFLA)-Porch Pirates are spoiling the holidays for online shoppers, especially in Tampa-St. Petersburg and in the Miami-Ft. Lauderdale areas.
According to the web site, Safewise.com, Miami-Fort Lauderdale and Tampa-St. Petersburg are among the top ten areas in the country where packages are likely to get stolen.
There is a way consumers can help stop porch pirates by using package delivery tracking, adding insurance and requiring a signature for delivery, installing security cameras or a doorbell camera, and having packages sent to their office or picking them up in person.
If you're a victim of package theft, Safewise.com says you should contact the carrier and the retailer, file a report with insurance and the police, and check home video surveillance.
