Cops: 77-Year-Old Man Shoots Neighbor in Dispute

Palmetto, Fla. (970 WFLA) - An elderly man faces charges of attempted murder and aggravated battery after deputies say he struck a neighbor with a brick then shot him.

William Andrus, 77, began arguing with Joseph Prisco on Lakeside Blvd. Wednesday afternoon "apparently over issues they've had as neighbors," according to a news release from the Manatee County Sheriff's Office. Andrus began striking Prisco with what Prisco's wife claims was a brick. She tried to intercede, and says that Andres began hitting her.

At some point, according to the news release, Andres pulled a gun and fired several times, striking Joseph Prisco. He recovers from surgery. Deputies described his wife's injuries as minor.
