Clearwater, Fla.-(Newsradio 970 WFLA)-Forty seven year-old John Chilton Thomas of Palm Harbor has been arrested for that early morning robbery of the 7-Eleven store on Drew Street.
Investigators say Thomas walked into the store and said he wanted to pay for some gasoline. When the clerk opened the cash drawer, police say Thomas hopped over the counter, fought with the clerk and then took off with the money.
Police found Thomas' abandoned car on Franklin Street, along with a knife believed to have been used in another robbery. Thomas was found a short time later at South Hillcrest and Gulf-to-Bay.
