Bi-Partisan Security for Polk Co. Vote Recount

Lakeland, Fla. (970 WFLA) - The Polk County Sheriff has ordered bipartisan security for the county's election office during the recount of votes ordered by the state.The Secretary of State ordered recounts in the races for Governor, U.S. Senate and Agriculture Commissioner after results turned into the state showed those races within the .5-percent required for an automatic recount.

Sheriff Grady Judd agreed to a request from Supervisor of Elections Lori Edwards to have two deputies on patrol at her office during the recount. The PCSO said in a news release that their presence will "add an extra layer of observation, security and transparency to our voting system integrity." Judd will require that one deputy is a registered Republican voter and the other be a registered Democrat.
